Our genetic identity is about being unique and belonging. Unless we have an identical twin, our particular combination of genes have probably never existed before or ill exist again in the future. We are all, uniquely individual. Our genes are also a link to our past.
We have some of the same genes that our parents have, and their parents before them. These same genes may be passed on to our children. DNA binds us together across temporal barriers.
Just as our unique sequence of DNA determines our character, so it also informs our relationship with ourselves. The state has attempted intervention with this relationship using security to justify increased individual personal surveillance. Authoritarian and corporate monitoring may succeed in categorizing our sequence for financial interpretation. The visual representation of our DNA sequencing is an identification process for the purpose of the outsider. The artwork is an emotional representation of images all originating from the body, a perspective that our expression of self is more appropriate to our being than our DNA sequencing.
DNA sequencing is a medical and security identification process.
The soul is a religious and romantic identification process.
We are physical evidence of our DNA.
