My prints take their origins from the landscape but I find excitement and satisfaction in exploring marks that can be achieved in wiping ink off the plate and thus accentuating and exaggerating light and cloud. I find that monotypes give me a freedom that I enjoy.

Born in Toronto, Norman Stiff attended The Ontario College of Art and worked for many years as a commercial illustrator. A love affair with Ireland saw him relocate to Dublin in the early nineties. His artwork is inspired by the ancient stone walls and ruins of the Irish countryside.
