| I am inspired by the way light falls on the landscape and enjoy the qualities that a woven form can bring to an image, in that the transient moment can somehow be captured by using colour in its constituent parts using the warp of a piece to give a feeling of light moving over the ground as it does on a cloudy day. There is also a quality of three dimensions that can be achieved without the cloth being three dimensional.
My prints too take their origins from the landscape but I find excitement and satisfaction in exploring marks that can be achieved in wiping ink off the plate and thus accentuating and exaggerating light and cloud. I find that monotypes give me a freedom that I enjoy.
