The act of making is a fundamental, indeed primary, human activity. Artistic endeavour as part of that activity functions to interpret, illuminate and transform the world we live in. My work is focused on the varied landscapes and environments both internal and external that mankind inhabits.
Expressive sketches, gouaches, engravings produced with tremendous vigor and lack of ceremony, so characteristic of a child, make for very personal visions, indeed highly intimate ones, characterized by her own subjective perception of the world. Marta Wakula’s black and white linoleum prints are composed from contrasting colour schemes as well as from shapes made with passionate lines. What makes her pieces special is her conscious use of a limited range of colours, so typical of this technique. Professor Jerzy Jedrysiak
